On Thursday, July 29, at 7:00 p.m., the Student Union Theatre will be having a sneak peek of the new movie "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle". Tickets will be available for University of Akron students and the public at the Student Union Information Center with a limit of 4 tickets per person.

ASG Seeking Senators

Associated Student Government is seeking interested students who would like to interview for two available one-year senate positions. As a senator you will be responsible for representing the student body in various ways. All senators are compensated and required to serve a minimum of four office hours per week as well as attend a weekly meeting on Thursday evenings. A 2.3 G.P.A. (grade point average) is required and the student must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours. ASG is seeking hard working and dedicated students. ASG Senate Clerk Needed

The Associated Student Government at The University of Akron is searching for dedicated and hard working students to fill the position of Senate Clerk. Senate Clerk is a paid position which requires the student to attend weekly Senate meetings Thursdays between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, taking attendance, recording the minutes of all senate meetings, and holding at least one (1), but not more than ten (10), office hours a week in addition to attending all Senate meetings. Applications are available in Carroll Hall, Room 304.

Parking Services Update

In an effort to inform the campus community, the Office of Parking Services would like to advise all students that parking permit enforcement begins the FIRST DAY of every academic term. Parking permits may be purchased at the Office of Parking Services. Parking permits may still be added to a student’s account for fall semester until Friday, August 6th. Please keep in mind that parking lots are monitored for safety and security seven days a week, twenty four hours a day. Jumpstart-Akron recruiting Volunteer Coordinator

Jumpstart-Akron is recruiting for a mature adult learner with a Federal Work-Study award for 2004-2005 to be their Volunteer Coordinator of the future.

This position would support the current Volunteer Coordinator and be mentored and coached to fill the position the following year. The person would support the Volunteer Coordinator in the following areas: recruit, train, manage & track volunteers; plan & implement events; solicit funds & supplies from the community; work with students & staff of the University as well as community organizations & businesses.

Desired skills:
The person must be flexible, mature, a self-starter with good phone & people skills, and experienced in working with people & building relationships. The person needs organizational skills & computer literacy (especially EXCEL & WORD) and must also be interested in CHILDREN & LITERACY (foundations of the Jumpstart program).
