To provide increased access and to relieve computer lab pressure, Information Technology Services has acquired a TAH student license for MatLAB, including all necessary Toolboxes.

MatLAB is a high-level language and interactive environment that enables you to perform computationally intensive tasks faster than with traditional programming languages such as C, C++, and FORTRAN.

Although MatLAB is heavily used in the Engineering College, it is available to all University of Akron students. This is an annual license that can be downloaded through the software download section of ZipLine (Student Only).

AAF will have its first official meeting of the semester this Monday. We will have an ad creation exercise, and discuss the organization, Ad Club, and several current projects. AAF benefits students that are interested in an advertising or marketing related field by gaining knowledge, opportunities, and experience through organizational and Ad Club projects. AAF connects to industry by inclusion as a student chapter in American Advertising Federation and closely working with the Akron and Cleveland Professional Chapters. Overall, AAF gives students who are interested in advertising a chance to bridge the gap between the distinct majors in the University and learn from each other, in an effort to be more prepared with more experience and opportunities for a career in advertising or a marketing related field. Look us up on Facebook "Akron Advertising Federation" or Orgsync. Thank you.

The Shoop Groop is back in action. Rather than sprinkling 20’s all over campus like last year, I will be showering the campus with “Boo at the Roo” tickets all October instead. Boo at the Roo starts popping at 9:09 on October 26th; complete with contests, giveaways, food, dancing, cash bar, and much more. To ease your quest for success, I will wear a bunch of different Halloween costumes around campus. Just look for something out of the ordinary and it will probably be me (but no guarantees). Remember the rules of the promotion? Read the paper, be the first to find me, Anthony Schupp, pass the quiz, and make a guest appearance to Boo at the Roo. Read the Buchtelite. It’s stoopidly simple.

Each issue of Rubbertop will feature 1/4 of its content from undergraduate and graduate students at The University of Akron. The remainder of the journal will feature the very best of work by writers living in Ohio.

Do you have a meal plan that leaves you with too many meal swipes to use up at the end of the week? Are you unsure of what to get, but don't want to waste you hard earned college funds? Well if so, here is the solution!!!

Serving with Swipes is a non-profit student organization in which you can use your unused meal swipes to donate food to the nearby food pantry. This is a great way to help those who are less fortunate while also learning not to be wasteful.

Just use your extra meal swipes at the Zees stores to purchase nonperishable, canned, or boxed foods. Drop them in the boxes located in the Zees stores at Exchange, Rob's Cafe, Quaker Square, or the Student Union.

Serving with Swipes-A great way to give back to the community and help those who are poor.

The University of Akron's Zipmail is a compilation of University announcements for University students, sent each Friday unless circumstances require otherwise. The deadline for submissions to be considered by the University is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Zipmail is a University of Akron communication vehicle established for the benefit of The University of Akron to communicate with its students. Items will be accepted for publication only when the University is directly involved in the activity through participation, sponsorship, or partnership with one of its recognized organizations, colleges or departments. The University reserves the right to edit or to refuse to run any submission for any reason. Zipmail is not, nor is it intended to be, a public forum or a limited public forum. Questions about the implementation of this policy may be directed to zipmail@uakron.edu.

Items to be considered for inclusion in Zipmail should be sent through the Zipmail Event Submission Form. Due to the volume of submissions received, items will not run more than one time.

Questions about specific announcements should be made to the contact person/department/organization listed in the announcement.Your event will automatically be forwarded to the University's online calendar. The Zipmail Coordinator can be reached at x2837.
