Sunday, July 1st, is the graduation application deadline for graduate and undergraduate students planning to graduate at the end of the Fall 2012 semester. To avoid the $100 late graduation application fee, don’t miss the deadline. Late applicants will need to obtain their dean’s permission.

Students must apply for graduation through ZipLine. Step-by-step instructions for submitting a graduation application in ZipLine are available by clicking the Graduation Services link in the “Quick Links for Students” section of ZipLine.

Please not that, per University policy, all obligations to The University of Akron must be reconciled prior to degree candidacy (i.e., commencement program notation, ceremony attendance and degree conferral).

Through the University’s exclusive arrangement with the city of Akron, you can attend most city-sponsored downtown events this summer for free with your Zip Card. Just visit UA’s new Summer in the City website to see the schedule, including a list of Lock 3 paid admission events* where you can get a single (1) free admission with your Zip Card.

This summer of concerts and other fun events is part of the growing UArts initiative, which includes continued free admission to the Akron Art Museum. It is being offered through a partnership with the city of Akron so that faculty, staff, students and retirees will have a single free admission to those events requiring paid admission. SWIM LESSONS FOR CHILDREN & ADULTS BEGIN SOON!

The next session of American Red Cross swim lessons will begin the week of June 11, 2012. Certified instructors will teach swimming skills for Children 18 months and older thru Adult learners. Lessons are open to the public and will be held at the SRWC and ONAT pools. Pricing includes eight (8) group lessons. The member pricing applies to current UA students, UA faculty/staff, and SRWC members and also applies to their siblings & children! Classes will be offered twice weekly on Monday/Wednesday mornings and Tuesday/Thursday evenings, and once weekly on Saturday mornings. Registration is limited, and most classes fill quickly. The deadline for registration in the first summer session & Saturday lessons is by 5pm on Friday, June 8th. The University of Akron's Zipmail is a compilation of University announcements for University students, sent each Friday unless circumstances require otherwise. The deadline for submissions to be considered by the University is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Zipmail is a University of Akron communication vehicle established for the benefit of The University of Akron to communicate with its students. Items will be accepted for publication only when the University is directly involved in the activity through participation, sponsorship, or partnership with one of its recognized organizations, colleges or departments. The University reserves the right to edit or to refuse to run any submission for any reason. Zipmail is not, nor is it intended to be, a public forum or a limited public forum. Questions about the implementation of this policy may be directed to zipmail@uakron.edu.

Items to be considered for inclusion in Zipmail should be sent through the Zipmail Event Submission Form. Due to the volume of submissions received, items will not run more than one time.
