Attitudes Toward Service Careers Online Survey
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
Students looking for research extra credit can find a new HPR online survey available to complete for 2 points and should take only about 30 minutes.

Participants must have completed a service requirement in either high school or college to take part in this study. The main purpose of this study is to analyze variables that may explain why service learning participation predicts, or does not predict, interest in future careers at non-profit organizations. This question is significant because non-profit organizations can use this information to better their future recruiting processes once factors contributing to the career decision-making process are identified. Students participating in this study will learn about the factors that may influence their interest in certain careers and the information they provide will help others learn more about the service learning experience.

To find this study, in your student HPR account look for the experiment 'Service Learning and Interest in Non-Profit Careers.' If you do not have an HPR account and are still interested in completing the survey please email Erica (emg52@zips.uakron.edu). Thank you!

Faculty Senate Committee Appointments open to students
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
Continuing its charge with the responsibility of appointing members to permanent and ad hoc committees of the Faculty Senate, the Executive Committee invites faculty, staff, and students to submit a request to serve on these vital bodies of the university community. The Executive Committee will recognize the preferences of Faculty Senate members in making its assignments, and it can also appoint non-members of the Senate to committees. Please select this < link http://www.uakron.edu/facultysenate/forms/committee-appointment-request-form.dot >, fill in the designated fields, and select ONE committee on which you would like to serve. You may also include a second or third preference.

The Executive Committee will review all requests and will assign members and non-members appropriately. Letters will go out to those chosen for each committee. New appointments will be through August 2015. Deadline for submission is August 15, 2012.

For detailed descriptions of committee functions and responsibilities please see < University Rule 3359-10-02E http://www.uakron.edu/ogc/UniversityRules/pdf/10-02.pdf >.

The Light-UP Lantern Festival in University Park is now coordinating artists, performers, story-tellers, musicians, actors and other creative participants for the fourth annual Light-UP Lantern Festival: Caravan of Lights on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 10 p.m.

Classes are offered in lantern making, puppetry, costume making, collaborative art projects, and installations. The resulting creations will be seen at the event.

To participate, contact festival volunteer Diana Watt at 330-606-1314 or dianadwatt@gmail.com by Aug. 24 for more information and a Performers Application form.
