Comedian Kyle Cease Sept. 28
9:09 pm - 11:00 pm
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
Kyle Cease made a huge name for himself as Bogey Lowenstein in the hit film 10 Things I Hate About You. He was also featured as the “slow clapper” in Not Another Teen Movie. Kyle is known for his quick wit and funny facial expressions. His comic career started at age seven when he negotiated a deal with his second grade teacher. If he would stop goofing off during class, she would give him five minutes at the end of class to entertain the students. This proposal launched a career that features many achievements. At 18 he became the youngest headlining comedian in the Pacific Northwest. At 20, after winning the Giggles Comedy Competition, he moved to Los Angeles and became a regular at numerous top comedy clubs and was a guest on The Martin Short Show. He has also released a comedy CD, Wait Your Turn. Don’t miss this rising star!

* An additional sum of $5,000 will be given to the team that has the best retail business plan located in the vicinity of the university. For more information contact Dr. Todd A. Finkle.

* The winning teams will also receive free consulting from the Service Core of Retired Executives (SCORE) to assist in the development of their businesses.

The competition is open to any University of Akron student who is registered full-time or part-time during the 2004-2005 academic year. At least one member of the team must be a student at the University. Individual or team submissions are acceptable.

The competition is open to all businesses with a heavy emphasis on seed, start-ups, early stage, or turnaround ventures. Students may work with any business, but the business plan must be original. The plan must address every aspect of the business, its potential for significant capital appreciation and attractiveness to investors. Students will be presenting the plans to a network of leading entrepreneurs, investors, and other key business professionals.

Competitors must submit eight copies of a completed business plan (not more than 25 pages of text and 15 pages of exhibits). A detailed outline of what is expected can be seen on our website at http://www3.uakron.edu/cba/enre/index.htm/.

All entries must include the official Business Plan Submittal Form and be submitted to Dr. Todd A. Finkle by Friday, February 18, 2005. The panel of judges will review all entries and select the top two undergraduate plans and the top two graduate plans. These four teams will make their final presentations at the Martin University Center on Saturday, April 2, 2005. Faculty, students, and the community are all invited to attend the event.

The University of Akron's Entrepreneurship Program was ranked in the top tier of regional schools in entrepreneurship education in Entrepreneur magazine’s 2004 rankings. The program offers an undergraduate minor and certificate and a graduate concentration in entrepreneurship. All entrepreneurship classes and programs are open to the entire university.
