The Northeastern Ohio Clarinet Association is sponsoring a performance by the Cincinnati Klezmer Duo on Sunday, October 24. The concert will begin at 4:00 p.m. in Guzzetta Recital Hall. Michele Gingras, the professor of clarinet at Miami University, is the clarinetist in the Klezmer Duo. Klezmer is described as the "soul music" of the Jewish people. Instrumental music that once nearly died out, Klezmer is now undergoing an international renaissance. Its roots are in the celebratory, exuberant dance tunes, folk songs and liturgical melodies that once flourished in the Jewish communities of Eastern Europe.
