Are you looking for a way to get involved on campus? If so, the Graduate Student Government has just the opportunity for you! In order to achieve GSG's goal of "Connecting Campus", we will be introducing four new leadership positions. The four "Directors of Outreach" (representing Alumni, Undergraduate, Student Organization, and Akron Community) will act as the liaisons between the graduate students and their constituency, providing timely updates on issues as well as opportunities during the 2013-2014 academic year.

More information about the leadership positions (including the duties and qualifications) and the application packet can be found at www.uakron.edu/gsg. The UA Career Center is excited to announce a brand new "Non-Profit Scholarship" opportunity for over 20 Summer & Fall 2013 Internships with area non-profit organizations!

To apply, currently enrolled UA students have four easy steps:

1. Get your resume critiqued by the Career Center, if you have not done so yet this semester. Simply call 330.972.7747 to make an appointment. We're open all summer: M-F, 8am-4:30pm.
2. Update or complete your RooLink profile
3. Upload your critiqued resume to your RooLink account.
4. Search "NPS" (Non-Profit Scholarships) or your major in RooLink and apply for positions for which you qualify through RooLink.

Students selected as summer & fall interns by the participating non-profit orgs. will receive a $1000 scholarship!

Red Cross Wilderness First Aid is a great certification to get if you enjoy the outdoors, leading trips, or would like to learn how to help people who may be hurt in the wilderness. This is a 16 hour certification that we will break up into two days beginning May 18, 2013 in the SRWC Classroom 245. Registration deadline is Friday, May 17th at 5:00pm. The cost of this event is $55 for UofA students, $65 for SRWS members and faculty/staff and $75 for non-members. Are you interested in getting paid for notes you already take? Sign up to be a notetaker for The Office of Accessibility! Notetakers are students enrolled in the same course as the student eligible to receive the notetaker services. Notetakers simply provide their notes to the student to whom they are assigned. The Office of Accessibility will provide you with the necessary materials for notetaking such as carbon copy paper, a copy card, or instructions for uploading notes. It is very easy!

Akron Women's Basketball Summer Camps 2013 June 24 - June 27

The time is here! Summer is right around the corner and The University of Akron Women’s Basketball team has scheduled their summer camp dates! The Individual Camp is being held June 24th through June 27th from 9am-4pm for girls ages 9-14. The regular single rate per camper is $140.00 but sign up before May 17th and receive $30 early bird registration discount. There will also be a Li’l Zips Day Camp for boys and girls ages 3 to 8 on June 25th from 9am-11am. The cost of the day camp is $30.00. Check-in will be held in the lobby of Rhodes Arena of the first day of camp as early as 8:15am. GROUP DISCOUNTS AS LOW AS $75 PER CAMPER AND FACULTY/STAFF DISCOUNTS ARE AVAILABLE!!! Camp brochures and online registration are available on the women’s basketball website and payment in full must accompany each camp application. Clinic for Individual and Family Counseling Accepting New Clients

The Clinic for Individual and Family Counseling has provided counseling services to Greater Akron and its surrounding communities since 1986. The Clinic provides counseling to individuals of all ages, couples, families, and groups. Services offered include: communication and relationship improvement, pre-marital and couples counseling, family development and parenting skills, career exploration and planning, academic improvement, resolution of grief/loss, anger management, stress reduction and relaxation, LGBT and lifestyle empowerment and advocacy, self-esteem and self-confidence building, and personal understanding and growth.

Groups being offered this summer include Anger/Stress Management and Co-Parenting groups.

If you or someone you know would benefit from counseling services, please contact the Clinic for Individual and Family Counseling at 330-972-6822. The Clinic offers day, evening, and Saturday hours and operates on a sliding fee scale. No one will be denied services due to inability to pay. Summer sessions of American Red Cross swim lessons will begin the week of June 10th. Instructors will teach swimming skills for Children 6 months and older thru Adult learners. Lessons are open to the public and will be held at the SRWC and ONAT pools. Pricing includes eight (8) group lessons. The member pricing applies to current UA students, UA faculty/staff, and SRWC members and also applies to their siblings & children! Classes will be offered twice weekly on Monday/Wednesday mornings and Tuesday/Thursday evenings. We also have one summer session of Saturday morning lessons that begin June 15th. Registration is limited, and most classes fill quickly.
