Vote for Homecoming Royalty Sept. 18 - Sept. 23

All undergraduate students are eligible to vote for the 2013 Homecoming Royalty. Each voter can vote for up to four (4) candidates in the King category and four (4) candidates in the Queen category.

From the Homecoming Royalty, the King and Queen will be selected. The amount of votes each candidate receives from the student body will weigh as 25% of the score and the judge’s interview/presentation taking place on Saturday, September 28, 2013 will weigh as 75% of the total score to decide the King and Queen.

The 2013 King and Queen will be announced during Homecoming Dance on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 8 p.m. to midnight in the Student Union Ballroom!

Join the Outdoor Adventure Program as we go white water rafting on the Lower Youghiogheny River located in PA, a world famous whitewater river that provides exciting rapids for beginner and experienced rafters alike. Lunch is provided on the river. The cost of the trip is U. Akron Students: $50, and SRWS Members & Faculty/Staff: $50. Register in the OASIS office located in the Recreation Center. The registration deadline is Tuesday, September 17th @ 5pm. This program is very popular so register early to guarantee a spot.

Swim lessons for all ages will begin Saturday, September 14, 2013! Certified instructors will teach swimming skills for Infants, Children, & Adults. Lessons are open to the public and will be held at the SRWC and ONAT pools. Session pricing includes eight (8) group lessons. The member pricing applies to current UA students, UA faculty/staff, and SRWC members and also applies to their siblings & children! Classes for all age groups, including Adults, will be offered on Saturday mornings. Additional Adult swim lessons will also be held twice weekly on Tuesday/Thursday evenings. Registration is limited, and most classes fill quickly. Our new online registration form allows you to fill out and submit your information, then pay on the first day of class. Welcome back! Let's have some fun and go on a nice kayaking and camping trip while the weather is still nice. We will head to West Branch State Park to camp and go kayaking out on the lake. The University of Akron's Zipmail is a compilation of University announcements for University students, sent each Friday unless circumstances require otherwise. The deadline for submissions to be considered by the University is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Zipmail is a University of Akron communication vehicle established for the benefit of The University of Akron to communicate with its students. Items will be accepted for publication only when the University is directly involved in the activity through participation, sponsorship, or partnership with one of its recognized organizations, colleges or departments.
