“The Future of Technology” is the topic for Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, who will deliver The John S. Knight Lecture on Monday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall. The event, part of the annual UA Forum Speaker Series, is free with a ticket. It is sponsored by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

In 1976, Wozniak and Steve Jobs founded Apple Computer Inc. with Wozniak’s Apple I personal computer. Through the years, Wozniak has been involved in a variety of ventures. A primary focus for him continues to be computer capabilities in schools, and stressing hands-on learning and encouraging creativity for students.

The University of Akron to Honor Veterans with Photo Display
Department of Student Life requesting photos before Oct. 28

The University of Akron’s Department of Student Life is calling for photos of UA veterans—students, faculty, alumni, or family and friends—to be used in a display on the second floor lounge of the Student Union from Nov. 4 through Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11.

Please bring your photo to room 130 in the Student Union, where it will be scanned and returned to you. You will be asked to provide the veteran’s branch of military, dates of service, tour(s) of duty, and other information. You also will have the opportunity to share a story.

The deadline for scanning photos is Monday, Oct. 28, at 8 p.m. On Monday, Nov. 4, you can attach your scanned photo—with the veteran’s name, phone number and email written on the back—to the display. Student Life is not responsible for original photos, but we will do our best to return those that are left.
