The Department of Student Financials understands the challenges that students face when it comes to paying for college. The department, located on the first floor of Simmons Hall, is happy to explain to you the available payment options, including the installment-payment plan. Stop by or call us at 330-972-5100. We are also on the Web at http://www.uakron.edu/busfin/studentfin/index.php.

We want to make you aware of some important dates for the summer term.

Tuition and fees for registration before April 15 are due on May 2. (If you enroll after April 15, please click here for your due date.) You can pay in installments over the semester by signing up for our installment-payment plan. You will be able to view your summer account online through ZipLine on or after March 20.

Information on financial aid is available on the Financial Aid Web site or you can call 330-972-7032 or stop by the Office of Student Financial Aid in Simmons Hall.

Some additional points:
  • Anticipated financial aid is considered as payment, and if it covers the balance due, the student will not incur any penalties.

  • Accounts not paid in full by the May 2 due date will be assessed a $50 late fee. Students who miss the due date and have not signed up for the installment plan run the risk of having their enrollment cancelled for the summer term. The cancellation enables the University to open up seats in classes that are full. If enrollment is cancelled for nonpayment, a re-enrollment fee of $50 may be assessed.

  • Students who enroll, but later decide not to attend, are strongly encouraged to drop their classes to ensure that fees are properly credited. Please note: Nonpayment does not guarantee the cancellation of your enrollment. (Learn how to drop classes here: http://www.uakron.edu/registrat/AddDrop.php. The University’s refund policy is here: http://www.uakron.edu/busfin/studentfin/refundpolicy.php.)

  • Enrollments will be canceled on May 8 for all undergraduate students if no payment is made on the account by the due date of May 2.

  • Enrollment after April 15th for summer will be permitted without payment or payment arrangements at the time of enrollment, but will be assessed a late fee and will be placed on hold for non-payment if not paid by the due date.

  • Graduate students, law students, first-time international students and certain workshops are excluded from the above enrollment cancellation criteria, however they will be assessed a late fee and will be placed on hold to prevent future enrollment if not paid by the due date. Graduate Students, law students, first-time international students should contact their department for more specific information.
If you have any questions, please call us at 330-972-5100 or visit us in Simmons Hall.

Airline tickets for the best toga at Zips-Miami basketball game Feb. 23
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
The first-ever Zips basketball Toga Night will be Wednesday, Feb. 23 during the Akron vs. Miami men's basketball game in James A. Rhodes Arena. Tip-off will be at 7 p.m.

The contest is open to the first 75 students who register with the UA Athletics Ticket Office located in the main lobby of James A. Rhodes Arena. Seating for Toga Night will be in the lower level of the arena behind the basket on the north end, adjacent to the Akron team bench.

Prizes will be given for the best toga and the most creative toga.

Each prize winner will receive two round-trip airline tickets courtesy of AirTran Airways and the Akron-Canton Airport. Judging will be done via applause during time-outs and various parts of the game. The winners will be announced during the last media time-out of the second half. There will also be a giveaway of two iPod Shuffles at this game, compliments of Apple.

The hardest part is making the toga. No one knows what to wear or how to wear it. Here are some hints...
  1. Sheets can be used, but they will have to be cut to fit securely.

  2. You will need 4-5 yards of fabric per toga, so find a local fabric store and go crazy.

  3. Be creative and pick a fabric that screams your personality. It can be a solid color or be decorated with Zips logos. That's up to you!

  4. Once you have your fabric, you're ready to do the "wrap." Wrap around your waist several times and then throw the remainder over either shoulder covering your chest (you choose). Take the fabric hanging off your shoulder and bring it around your back to your waist and tie it off. You can choose to go bare shouldered or wear some type of T-shirt underneath.
Also: Accessorize with Akron gear, blue and gold necklaces, beads, etc… leather straps (to match your sandals), gold chains, jewelry, ivy covered wire for your headdress, gold belting.

For more information, contact Kevin Olivett at 330-972-8291.
