Submit the FAFSA by March 1 for greatest aid opportunities
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
This year, The University of Akron launched several new scholarship initiatives to help more students afford the cost of college. We have more scholarships available than ever before—and more options to meet many of our students’ needs.

Here’s what you need to know for 2014 summer and fall admission:

  • The March 1 deadline for completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is fast approaching. Even if you don’t think you will qualify for aid, we encourage you to complete the FAFSA. Most people do qualify for something. You increase your odds of receiving additional assistance when you file the FAFSA by March 1. (Please note: UA’s school code is 003123).

Students who meet the March 1 priority application date will be considered for every requested financial aid program for which they may be eligible and for which there are available funds. Students who do not meet the priority application date will not be considered for federal university-administered funds, such as Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Federal Work-Study, and Federal Perkins Loan, unless there are funds remaining. You can file the FAFSA even if your taxes are not completed. Use estimates and apply by the priority date. Make your corrections after you file your tax return.

  • Undergraduate student scholarship awards from the University or its colleges are applied toward expenses reflected on your UA bill. There will be no refunds of scholarship dollars that exceed the cost of tuition, fees and on-campus room and board.

  • Continuing students who are selected by the federal processor for verification of information will no longer receive verification materials by mail. Please check your My Akron account to review your To Do List.

  • First-time borrowers on or after July 1, 2013 are subject to a time limit on Direct Subsidized Loans. Learn more.

  • Student advisory: No need to pay for financial aid services.

MBA Information Session March 7
5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
Our Flexible MBA allows students to study on a full-time or part-time basis. Students with any bachelor's degree are eligible to apply for admission. Students with science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medical backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

We offer an interdisciplinary concentration that allows you to take graduate credits outside of business to fulfill MBA requirements. Students admitted to any UA graduate program can shorten the MBA by applying coursework from the current program.

Coordinated programs with Engineering, Math, Statistics and the BS/MD program allow students to reduce Gateway requirements in the MBA by taking specific undergraduate elective courses in business and take graduate and undergraduate work concurrently.

The CBA also offers programs in Accountancy, Taxation, Information Systems, Technological Innovation and joint programs with the School of Law.

Bloomberg Business week and U.S. News and World Report ranked UA’s Flexible MBA the #1 public MBA in northern Ohio.

Register to attend the session online at mba.uakron.edu and meet with our advising staff to learn more about admission requirements and how the Flexible MBA is a good fit for your future!

Kappa Sigma is proud to partner with “American 4 Boston” and their prayer canvas project to collect thoughts and well wishes for victims and families of last year's Boston Marathon Bombing. Thousands of these canvases are being created and will all be connected and presented prior to a Boston Red Sox game in the upcoming season. Each canvas contains 340 squares that need to be filled by YOU and everyone else in the community!

The Pi-Rho chapter of Kappa Sigma here at Akron would like everyone to stop by the Student Union on Monday March 10th, Tuesday March 11th and Wednesday March 12th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on the second floor to sign the prayer canvas. This is a free event and anyone and everyone is welcome and encouraged to come join.

Organizational Citizenship is the practice of discretionary behavior that promotes efficient and effective functioning of an organization. Organizations typically have few identified “leaders” amongst many “followers”. Organizational Citizenship explores how those “followers” and “leaders” can instead be a steward of leadership by becoming an organizational citizen. The information and techniques that are discussed and practiced can be applied to any organization that you are or will be a member of, helping you to be an effective leader when you are not in a defined leadership role.

Participants who attend this session will:

Develop an understanding of organizational citizenship behaviors
Learn to embrace change and confusion so that it becomes a resource, rather than a barrier
Participate in team building activities that will challenge and support participants in the application of leadership skills
