For students registered for the summer 2005 semester, tuition and fees are now posted on your online student account. Your online student may be accessed via ZipLine.

The summer due date for registration on or before April 15 is May 2, 2005. More information on summer 2005 due dates is available online at http://www.uakron.edu/busfin/studentfin/billing/billing_Sum2005.php.

Sidewalk from Auburn to Memorial Hall to be replaced

Workers on Monday will begin to replace the walkway in front of the Student Union, part of a month-long project to reconstruct the sidewalk from Memorial Hall to the bridge by the Auburn Science and Engineering Center. Temporary walkways will be set up, and signs will be posted.

Registration for fall semester to begin April 1

Registration for the fall 2005 term will begin on Friday, April 1.

For students, tutorials showing how to use ZipLine to search and register for courses are available online.

Each group's registration will begin at 6 p.m. on the date designated. The fall registration schedule is as follows:

April 1 - Graduate (12+ hours earned); law (D3, E4, L1 & L2); postbaccalaureate; undergraduate (136+ hours earned); NEOUCOM; and Honors.

April 4 - Graduate (0-11.99 hours earned); law (D2 & E3); and undergraduate (116-135.99 hours earned).

April 6 - Law (D1 & E2); undergraduate (96-115.99 hours earned); and Summit College students (32+ hours earned toward associate degree).

April 8 - Law (E1); and undergraduate (80-95.99 hours earned).

April 11 - Undergraduate (64-79.99 hours earned).

April 13 - Undergraduate (51-63.99 hours earned).

April 15 - Undergraduate (41-50.99 hours earned).

April 18 - Undergraduate (32-40.99 hours earned).

April 20 - Undergraduate (19-31.99 hours earned).

April 22 - Undergraduate (13-18.99 hours earned).

April 25 - Undergraduate (7-12.99 hours earned).

April 27 - Undergraduate (0-6.99 hours earned).

April 29 - Guest and all other students.

Students are encouraged to register early. Student Services may be accessed via ZipLine.

The "Got Class?" brochure (a quick guide to online registration with payment options and registration dates) is available in PDF format online. Print versions are available at Academic Advisement, Bierce Library, offices of the college deans, Graduate School, Z-Info Pointe in Simmons Hall, Student Recreation and Wellness Center, Student Union Information Desk, Summit College Advising Office and other locations.

If you are planning to study abroad this summer or the coming academic year, remember to apply for an Incentive Grant for Study Abroad. The goal of these grants is to increase the number of students from The University of Akron who study abroad.

The amount of the award will be determined by a selection committee, based on the number of eligible applicants and proposed activities. Eligible applicants must be participating in study abroad programs for credit during Summer 2005, Fall 2005, or Spring 2006. Applicants must also be registered students at UA and in good standing at the time of application. Preference will be given to students who have not previously studied abroad.

Information sheets and applications are available online or in the Office of International Programs (Polsky 483). Completed applications must be submitted to the Office of International Programs by Monday, April 4, at 5 p.m.

Join Dining Services for the "In Your Face" hot dog and pie eating contests, part of the Food Jamboree on April 5 in the Student Union ballrooms. The winners will receive a mountain bike or a $250 Robertson Cafe gift card. All participants will receive a great gift. Sign up for these contests at the Zip Card table — the first six people to sign up at the Jamboree will be in the contest. Sign up early because the contest begins at noon.

At the Jamboree, there will be food demos, display cooking, food samples, door prizes and many other giveaways. This is a free food fair open to all students, faculty and staff from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 5 in the Student Union, third-floor ballrooms.
