Kyle Cease made a huge name for himself as Bogey Lowenstein in the hit film, "10 Things I Hate About You." He also was featured as the 'slow clapper' in "Not Another Teen Movie." Kyle is known for his quick wit and funny facial expressions. His comic career started at age seven when he negotiated a deal with his second grade teacher: if he would stop goofing off during class, she would give him five minutes at the end of class to entertain the students. This proposal launched a career that features many achievements. At age 18 he became the youngest headlining comedian in the Pacific Northwest. At 20, after winning the Giggles Comedy Competition, he moved to Los Angeles and became a regular at numerous top comedy clubs and was a guest on The Martin Short Show. He has also released a comedy CD, "Wait Your Turn." Don’t miss this rising star!

Registration for The University of Akron's Conference on Undergraduate and Graduate Student Research (CUGSR) will be open until Sept.30.

The conference will take place on Nov. 17 at the Student Union. The purpose of the conference is to exhibit outstanding undergraduate and graduate research and to promote student participation in scholarly activities. The conference's theme is "Research Innovations and Implications: New Technologies and Their Consequences." Student and faculty research from various disciplines, such as the arts, mathematics, business, social sciences, education, humanities, physical and life sciences, nursing, and engineering will be presented at this conference. The conference has been designed to showcase partnerships between students and faculty mentors. Additionally, this conference supports the goals of The University of Akron's Diversity Score Card enterprise to increase all undergraduate and graduate students' co-curricular research experience including those who represent diverse under-represented student populations (e.g., students of color; women in science and engineering; first generation students).

The Center for Career Management will sponsor a Graduate and Law School Fair during the Graduate School Conference. Sessions will include:

- employer panel discussion on finding research opportunities with organizations

- graduate school workshops and the application process

- funding your graduate work

- transitioning to the job market

Students interested in participating in this conference must submit a proposal or abstract for oral or poster presentation by September 30, 2005.

Additionally, nominations for an outstanding student researcher will be solicited. That student researcher will receive a cash prize of $500. The conference presentations will be judged and presenters will have the opportunity to win awards.

Lastly, the Conference on Undergraduate and Graduate Student Research (CUGSR) at The University of Akron presents an opportunity for students, faculty and the surrounding community to view the work of their colleagues. This conference will highlight the research endeavors and contributions of University of Akron students that positively impact society.
