Participants sought for study on stress
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
WHO: 18-24 year old students

WHAT: A stress research study comparing 3 interventions: healing touch, coaching and healing touch with coaching.

WHEN: Mutually convenient time

WHY: You may get relief of your stress symptoms, you will get $15 on your Zip Card and you will help us understand the benefits of the three interventions.

DETAILS of the research study: We are exploring the effects of healing touch and coaching on students' stress and comfort levels. All participants will have an intake visit that will last about 15 minutes. Everyone will be randomly assigned to one of 4 groups—healing touch, coaching, a combined healing touch/coaching or wait list group. The healing touch and coaching groups will have sessions lasting 20-25 minutes and the combined healing/coaching will have divided sessions lasting a total of 40-45 minutes each at week 1, week 2 and week 3. Surveys will be completed before and after the sessions. The wait list group will complete surveys via e-mail at week 1, week 2, week 3 and will then have the choice of receiving a complimentary healing touch or coaching session. At week 4, surveys will be sent to all participants by e-mail to complete. On completion of all sessions and surveys, students will be given $15 on their Zip Card.

If you are interested in participating in the study, contact one of us to schedule your intake visit at a mutually convenient time. Contact information is below.

There is no better, or possibly worse, place to make an impression on a prospective employer than the dinner table. Although you may have taken numerous courses in your field of study, you probably haven’t taken any courses in dining etiquette!

The Department of Student Life, the Hospitality Management Department and the Center for Career Management are joining forces to offer you a "crash course" highlighting the basic elements of a full-course meal. Dining tips will be facilitated by a consultant specializing in etiquette, as you enjoy a lunch of soup, salad, and your choice of an entrée.

Reservations for this event must be made in advance through the Center for Career Management, Simmons 301. Students will be asked to supply a deposit in order to hold their reservation, which will be refunded the day of the event. Seating is limited. For more information use the contact information below.

Is it almost time for you to take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT)? Would you like to take a practice test, but simply don't have enough time to do so? If so, please consider attending the Kaplan "10 Question Challenge," an event hosted by the Pre-Law Club. At the event, you will be given ten difficult LSAT questions and then a professional from Kaplan will explain effective ways to answer.

To attend any of the 202 law schools that are members of the Law School Admission Council, you must take the LSAT. This event is an excellent way to prepare yourself for that test without the time commitment and stress of taking a full practice LSAT.

This event is free, and open to club members and non-members alike, but club members will be given preference in the distribution of test and study materials.
