As north deck is cleaned, drivers urged to observe signs

The North Campus Parking Deck is beginning to recieve it annual cleaning, which means that those who park there will need to pay attention to the signs telling which sections on a given day are being worked on.

Workers will be using chemicals that could damage the finish of any vehicle parked in a closed-off section. Because of that, drivers who ignore the signs run the risk of having their car moved to a safer location at their expense.

The deck is cleaned annually as a preventive measure to remove salt, oil and grease to better preserve the deck.

University to study parking and traffic issues

The University has hired a consulting group to study a number of parking issues, including traffic flow, the fee structure, special event parking and the feasibility of a more comprehensive shuttle service.

"We are committed to providing safe and sufficient parking at the lowest cost possible for students," said Jim Stafford, director of parking services. "With this study, we will be asking students and others to think critically about a number of ideas that we have to further improve our service to motorists."

Over the next few months, representatives from Consulting Engineers Group of Cincinnati will be on campus periodically to study our existing parking facilities and to meet with students and others to gather opinions. Recommendations are expected by October.

Dust off your Beatle boots and be a part of the sights and sounds of the British Invasion coming to Lock 3 Live! on Saturday, July 22 at 6 p.m.

Best known for their No. 1 British Invasion single "World Without Love," the 1960s pop duo Peter & Gordon will reunite to sing all their fan-favorite hits that made them icons of the era. Akron is one of only a few select cities to host this very special performance by the duo that took nearly 40 years to come to fruition. The evening also features legendary rock ‘n’ roll band the Yardbirds, playing their hard-rock hits of the late 60s that took guitar to a whole new level. Also waving the British flag is Beatles tribute band Revolution, featuring Tim Piper’s critically acclaimed vocals and mannerisms of John Lennon.

Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the gate. For more details and ticket info go to Lock 3 Live!.
