Students Encouraged to Check Their Fall 2006 Course Schedules via ZipLine
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
Students are encouraged to check their fall 2006 schedules via ZipLine.

• Log into ZipLine with their UANet ID and password
• Click on the “Students” tab, select “Academics” from the list and then select “View My Class Schedule.”
• Information regarding course meeting times, days and room location is given in real-time; in other words, all information is up to date as it is retrieved.

The Office of the University Registrar sends an e-mail to the instructor of record and all enrolled students’ UA Net e-mail address when there is a classroom change made in the course(s) they are enrolled. It is recommended that instructors and students check their UANet e-mail often for any important messages from the University as this will be the official means of notification used by the Office of the University Registrar.

Students may access a computer from many locations on campus including:

• Simmons Hall – Lobby
• Student Union – Laptop Check Out and Kiosks
• Residence Halls – Computer Labs
• Carroll Hall – Adult Focus Office, Room 55
• Bierce Library – Computer Labs and Laptop Check Out
• The Polsky Building – Room 192
• Buchtel College of Arts & Sciences building – Computer Lab Room 103B and Kiosks in Atrium
• College of Business Administration Building – Room 102

For students who do not have access to a computer, a listing of courses with classroom assignments will be available at the Student Union Information Desk and the Bierce Library Circulation Desk.

Questions regarding your course schedule may be directed to the Office of the University Registrar at Registration@uakron.eduor 330-972-8300 (choose option #4 for Registration).

Conversation Partners Program
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
The English Language Institute (ELI), UA's English program for international students, invites UA students to participate in its Conversation Partners Program. Through this program, the ELI pairs an international student who is learning English in our program with an American partner for one hour of informal conversation per week. ELI students come from all over the world and bring with them a wide variety of educational, political, cultural, religious, and linguistic backgrounds. This program is a wonderful opportunity to learn about another country and culture AND to make an international student feel welcome here in Akron.

Sign-up for the Fall 2006 Conversation Partners Program begins August 28 in the ELI Office in Olin Hall 302. The one-hour weekly meetings will run from the week of September 25 through December 1. Call (330) 972-7544 for more information.

What is life like after an art education at the Myers School of Art at The University of Akron? A provocative exhibition and panel discussion at Folk Hall will demonstrate the answers to that question during the month of August. “Coming Home” is an exhibition of ten Myers School of Art alumni from 1998 to 2003, who are currently working as professional artists. The exhibition, which opened August 7 in the Emily Davis Gallery, displays an eclectic mix from these talented artists whose work includes video, graphic design, photography, installation art, printmaking and sculpture. Alumni artists featured in the exhibition are Josh Azzarella, Dragana Crnjak, Brittyn Dewerth, Joe Galbreath, Allen Harrison, Jody Hawk, Nichola Kinch, Joe Nanashe, Kevin Shook and Angie White.

Commentary about “Life After Myers School of Art”, can be heard during a panel discussion of several alumni artists in the show on Wednesday, August 30, at 6 pm in the auditorium of Folk Hall. A closing reception for the exhibition will follow. Moderated by Myers’ Professor of Art, Penny Rakoff, the panel will share their various paths and experiences post-graduation. The exhibition and panel discussion are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are M/T/F/S 10 am – 5 pm, W/Th 10 am – 9 pm, closed Sunday.
