spacer image
Nearly every time The University of Akron Steel Drum Band has performed since its start in 1980, the audience has requested “Yellow Bird,” “Jamaica Farewell” and “Marianne.” Those and other favorites are now on By Request, the band’s new CD.

Released this month, By Request also features “Flip Flop Song,” a new tune written and sung by local rock legend Jonah Koslen. During his tenure with the Michael Stanley Band, Koslen wrote some of the band’s best-known songs, including “Waste a Little Time on Me,” “Strike Up the Band,” and “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Mind.”

To get By Request send $15 for each CD, plus $2 shipping per order, to The University of Akron Steel Drum Band, Akron, OH 44325-1002. Or, order through http://www.UASteelBand.com. For more information call 330-972-6988. All proceeds from By Request support the Percussion Program in The University of Akron School of Music.
