Summer 2007 Registration Information

Registration for the Summer 2007 term will begin on Friday, February 23. The Summer term contains seven sessions:

• 1st 5-week session (May 21 – June 23)
• 1st 8-week session (May 21 – July 14)
• 10-week session (May 21 – July 28)
• 13-week session (May 21 – August 18)
• 2nd 5-week session (June 11 – July 14)
• 2nd 8-week session (June 25 – August 18)
• 3rd 5-week session (July 16 – August 18)

Tutorials showing how to use ZipLine to search and register for courses are available on the Software Training and Technological Services website located at http://www.uakron.edu/its/learning/training/StudentSelfService.php.

Each group’s registration will begin at 6:00 pm on the date designated. The summer registration schedule is as follows:

• February 23 – Graduate (12+ hours earned); Law (D3, E4, L1 & L2); Postbaccalaureate; Undergraduate (136+ hours earned) NEOUCOM; and Honors.
• February 26 – Graduate (0-11.99 hours earned); Law (D2 & E3); and Undergraduate (116-135.99 hours earned).
• February 28 – Law (D1 & E2); Undergraduate (96-115.99 hours earned); and Summit College students (32+ hours earned towards Associates degree).
• March 2 – Law (E1) and Undergraduate (80-95.99 hours earned).
• March 5 – Undergraduate (64-79.99 hours earned).
• March 7 – Undergraduate (51-63.99 hours earned).
• March 9 – Undergraduate (41-50.99 hours earned).
• March 12 – Undergraduate (32-40.99 hours earned).
• March 14 – Undergraduate (19-31.99 hours earned).
• March 16 – Undergraduate (13-18.99 hours earned).
• March 19 – Undergraduate (7-12.99 hours earned).
• March 21 – Undergraduate (0-6.99 hours earned).
• March 23 – Guests and all other students.

Students are encouraged to register early. Student Services may be accessed by clicking on the ZipLine button located in the lower right corner of The University of Akron’s home page, http://www.uakron.edu.

Two visitation days for prospective students are coming up. On both days — Monday, Feb. 19 and Friday, Feb. 23. — visitors will be directed to park in the East Campus Parking Deck, which located between Rhodes Arena and Route 8. If you park in the East Campus Deck, you may want to arrive on campus a few minutes early those days.

The Counseling, Testing and Career Center provides free counseling, psychotherapy and career counseling to enrolled students. Learning disorder, ADD/ADHD and other psychological assessments are available for a small fee. Many study skills and wellness workshops are conducted in the center through the College Survival Kit. Two more home games for the women’s basketball team

The women's basketball team will take on Miami of Ohio at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb 21, at Rhodes Arena. The Gospel Choir will perform at half time in celebration of Black History Month. The team will play its final regular season home-game at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, against the University at Buffalo. Seniors Jessie Crooks and Mandy Holzer will be recognized before the game, their final one in Rhodes Arena.

Following the women’s game, the men will compete at 7 p.m. against Bowling Green State University. Immediately following the game, the movie "Glory Road” will be played in the arena, free of charge. All students are welcome. Complimentary pizza will be served.

Keith Beauchamp presents "The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till" Feb. 22

"The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till", Beauchamp's first film, won the Freedom of Expression award from the National Board of review in 2005. The film also was a catalyst in persuading the U.S. justice department to reopen the 51 year old murder case of Emmett Till and launch a new investigation.
Keith Beauchamp will be in the Student Union Theatre for a screening of the film from 6 - 7:15 p.m. Afterward, he will deliver a lecture and lead a discussion.

Need a gaming fix? Come and join the University of Akron's ACM Chapter at our annual Console Gaming Day. We will be hosting an all day frag-a-ganza, complete with a Halo2 2v2 tournament. Halo2 will not be the only spot light event for the day. We will also be kicking it old school with some classic N64 games such as Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers, and 007. All of you Guitar Hero 2 rockers come by and see if you can out rock our staff guitar master.

There is a $10 door fee for the Halo2 tournament, but all other events are free. All of the collected entrance fees will be divided up among the first, second and third place teams, and used to purchase a gift certificate of their choice.
