Tuesday’s classes in Arts and Sciences Building are moved

Because the College of Arts and Sciences Building is without heat, all classes scheduled in that building for Tuesday will be held in another location.

A schedule with each class's new location is at http://www.uakron.edu/info/docs/CASTuesdayClassesFINAL.pdf. This information will also be posted on the doors of the Arts and Sciences Building and in the Student Union. University personnel will be on hand outside of the Arts and Sciences Building to assist students on Tuesday.

To try to keep heat in the Arts and Sciences Building, access to the building will be restricted on Tuesday. As a result, staff and contract professionals who work in the Arts and Sciences building should report to work as instructed by their supervisors. Faculty and teaching assistants will be permitted access to the building to retrieve their lecture notes or any other class materials needed to teach their classes.

Because only a skeleton staff will answer phones for departments located in the building, services may be somewhat limited; however, department representatives will be available to students in the conference room of Institutional Research on the fifth floor of Leigh Hall.

The heat to the Arts and Sciences Building was cut off when the steam line that supplies heat to it sprung a leak this afternoon. Repair crews will work as quickly as possible to assess damage to the line once the heat dissipates in the tunnel where the line is. By mid-day tomorrow, we will be able to advise you on how long the repairs should take, when the building might reopen and what the interim arrangements will be to ensure continued service to our students.

The University of Akron's Zipmail is a compilation of University announcements for University students, sent each Friday unless circumstances require otherwise. The deadline for submissions to be considered by the University is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Zipmail is a University of Akron communication vehicle established for the benefit of The University of Akron to communicate with its students. Items will be accepted for publication only when the University is directly involved in the activity through participation, sponsorship, or partnership with one of its recognized organizations, colleges or departments. The University reserves the right to edit or to refuse to run any submission for any reason. Zipmail is not, nor is it intended to be, a public forum or a limited public forum. Questions about the implementation of this policy may be directed to zipmail@uakron.edu.

Items to be considered for inclusion in Zipmail should be sent through the Zipmail Event Submission Form. Due to the volume of submissions received, items will not run more than one time.
