spacer image
UA's Department of Learning Technologies is coordinating the search for a Learning Management System (LMS) to replace WebCT. Students are encouraged to participate in this selection process. Your experiences and opinions are highly valued. We want and need to hear from you and invite your active participation.

A Web site has been created to share information about the LMS products that are possible candidates and the selection process to be followed. You can locate the site at: http://learn.uakron.edu/lms/.

Steering committees are being formed to represent the interests of instructors, students, administrators, and technical support in order to pick the best LMS package for The University of Akron. If you are interested in serving on one of these committees, please check out the Committee tab and send us an email!

We encourage everyone with an interest in shaping the future of online learning at The University of Akron to share with the selection teams your opinions on the features and functions that you consider important to have in the next LMS. Take a few minutes to complete the LMS Tools Survey provided on the website to share your opinions on the importance of specific features and functions of a Learning Management System.

If you have any questions, please contact David Wasik at 330-972-7926 wasik@uakron.edu.

That’s right! Zips Programming Network Movie Series is at it again! This time we are having a sneak preview of Disturbia!

Disturbia is staring: Shia LaBeouf, Carrie-Anne Moss, David Morse, Sarah Roemer, Aaron Yoo

After his father's death, Kale becomes sullen, withdrawn, and troubled -- so much so that he finds himself under a court-ordered sentence of house arrest. His mother, Julie, works night and day to support herself and her son, only to be met with indifference and lethargy. The walls of his house begin to close in on Kale. He becomes a voyeur as his interests turn outside the windows of his suburban home towards those of his neighbors, one of which Kale begins to suspect is a serial killer. But, are his suspicions merely the product of cabin fever and his overactive imagination?

Disturbia is going to be shown at 8 p.m., Thursday, April 12, in The Student Union Gardner Theatre. Arrive early to wait in line. (doors will open around 7:30 p.m.)

Ticket Fliers are available in The Student Union at The SOuRCe and at the Information Center. They are also available on-line.

From 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, April 14, we'll be having a bowling social! We will be renting out the bowling alley in the Student Union. Pizza will be provided! While bowling, we will be forming teams. For the team that wins, NSCS will donate $0.05 per pin multiplied by the amount of pins that they knock down. In addition, bring canned goods and underwear because we will be donating them to charity! Last but not least, NSCS members that attend the event and bring donations will get points toward scholarships that will be given out at the end of the school year. The first place winner will be awarded $300, the second place winner will get $200, and the third place winner will receive $100.

This event is a great way for the new members of the group to get involved with NSCS. Also, we will be having two more events this month so stay tuned!
