Purchase your parking permit now for fall July 24 - July 31

The deadline to add a fall parking permit to your student account is this weekend. After Sunday July 29 at midnight, you will no longer be permitted to add a fall parking permit request to your account. Fall permits are also on sale now in the Office of Parking Services.

If you have added a permit to your account, it will be sent to your mailing address the week of July 30. If you would rather purchase your permit now, you may do so by loggin on to the Parking Web Site or by stopping by the Parking Services Office, during summer business hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Parking Services is located below the North Campus Parking Deck next to Simmons Hall.

Department of Development seeks fund-raisers

The Department of Development is looking for 12 to 15 great students to call UA alumni and friends. It also seeks one student for phonathon manager. The phonathon campaign runs both fall and spring semesters, starting this year on Tuesday, Sept. 4. The manager needs to begin earlier.

Caller qualifications: Sales or telemarketing experience preferred, but will train the right person. You must be a proud UA student who is motivated, dependable, friendly and extremely reliable.

Hours: Monday – Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. (flexible, but you must be able to dedicate at least two to four evenings per week).

Pay rate: $7.50 per hour plus incentives and bonus.

Manager qualifications: Sales, telemarketing, manager, or leadership experience necessary. Applicants must have the ability to motivate and supervise callers, help with the start of the campaign each semester and create incentive ideas. Applicants must be professional and dependable, with an outgoing and positive attitude. Junior, senior, or graduate student preferred. This is a great opportunity for marketing or sales major.

Hours: Monday – Thursday from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

Pay rate: $10 per hour plus bonus.

The call center is located in the Taylor Institute for Direct Marketing – fifth floor of the Polsky Building.

Day Kayaking/Canoeing Trip Aug. 11

The Student Recreation and Wellness Centers Outdoor Adventure Program will sponsor a day of kayaking or canoeing from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Aug. 11, at Ladue Reservoir. No experience required. Transportation and equipment will be provided. The cost for students is $20, faculty and staff is $24 and the community is $27. The deadline for registration is Friday, Aug. 3.

The Student Recreation and Wellness Centers Outdoor Adventure Program will sponsor a paintball tournament from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18, at the TBA Paintball in Alliance, Ohio. The cost for UA students, faculty and staff is $40 and the community is $50. This cost includes the entry fee, equipment, transportation and lunch. The deadline for registration is Monday, Aug. 13.

For Diversity Week in the fall, Zips Programming Network (ZPN) will be sponsoring a program that will take place near Starbucks in the Student Union. This informational session has been designed to educate students and others about diverse belief systems (i.e., various religious/spiritual ideas, or a lack thereof) while teaching the importance of respecting everyone's ideas. People of all backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

If you would like to be involved in the event by setting up a table, and providing information about your beliefs, please contact us today. We have room for three or four more individuals or pairs for this event.

The University of Akron's Zipmail is a compilation of University announcements for University students, sent each Friday unless circumstances require otherwise. The deadline for submissions to be considered by the University is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Zipmail is a University of Akron communication vehicle established for the benefit of The University of Akron to communicate with its students.
