Emergency Text Messaging for Students Aug. 23 - Oct. 31
Time: n/a
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
The University of Akron has established a texting service to notify students and parents in the case of an emergency. Both students and parents can sign up for the alerts.

In the event of an emergency, a text message outlining the nature of the emergency will be sent to the mobile/cell phone number AND/OR email address provided by the student and parents.

This is a free service provided by the University; however the recipient will pay text-messaging fees as prescribed in his or her service agreement.

The texting service should be in place soon. You will be notified as soon as sign up is available. Once it is available, students and parents will sign up for emergency text notification by going to the University’s web site, http://www.uakron.edu, and the student portal, https://zipline.uakron.edu.

Advice for those planning to visit the Payroll Office
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
Need to visit the Payroll Office in the Administrative Services Building? Please note that the parking deck at the Mill Street entrance is closed. If you are coming to the Payroll Office for any reason, especially on a payday, you may want to walk. Limited parking is available in the Methodist church parking lot off of College Street; however, the first 3 or 4 payroll dates of the academic year will be extremely busy due to the number of new students and staff.

We are encouraging all to sign up for direct deposit. It is a convenient way to receive your pay. Your pay statement will come to you in your department, or better yet, you can save a tree and view your pay statement on ZipLine! Please call the Payroll Office at 330-972-7205 if you have any questions.

Come join us for informal Spanish conversation in our new location! This year we will be meeting in Room 274a of Bierce Library. The day and time, first Wednesday of the month, 6-8 pm, remains the same.

The theme of the evening is significant T shirt night. Wear or bring a T-shirt or other item of clothing and tell us why it means something to you. Maybe it’s a souvenir of a rock concert you attended, or your lucky shirt you wear on exam days, or the one you were wearing when you met a special someone. If you don’t have one, come anyway and hear the stories from those that do.

Also, if you were lucky enough to do some traveling this summer, bring pictures and stories to share. If you didn’t get away from home this year, you can be part of an appreciate audience!

The gathering is open to everyone in the campus community, beginners to native speakers. Food and beverages are allowed and there is a café conveniently located on the ground floor of the library.

ˇBienvenidos!
