The Philosophy Club presents Nietzsche Nov. 27
5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
We will be discussing Nietzsche's 'The Geneology of Morals, and how he accounts for our "current" moral norms in terms of power structures which may have occupied humanities prehistory. We will focus on the slave/master distinction, along with his characterization of "the priest's" function in such developments. The feasibility and value of such an approach to morality will be discussed.

All students are welcome, you need not be a philosophy major, an interest in critical thinking is all that is needed!

Singer Nadine Zahr Nov. 27

spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
spacer image
If ever there was a contemporary singer-songwriter that defied all expectations of the genre, it’s Nadine Zahr. This daughter of Palestinian refugees stays true to the heart and soul behind her culture and upbringing while splashing her aural canvas with vibrant indie-pop tints, earthy roots-rock hues, and bluesy gospel-soul textures. The vulnerability and strength of her songs is elevated by her expressive four-octave voice, which earned her a Broadway debut at the age of 12. Nadine rather heroically lays waste to the stereotype of the droopy, demurring neo-folkie and performs on stage with an all-consuming intensity. As a Southern California weekly noted, “You don’t hear background conversation when Zahr is performing...audiences are invariably spellbound.”
