The College of Business Administration's Integrated Marketing Communications class, Vision 33, and Citibank Credit ED are teaming up to increase awareness about credit education on campus this week.

Vision 33 will be available:

Students are encouraged to stop by these locations to learn the importance of using credit wisely.

Hillel and the Cleveland Israel Advocacy Fund will be present "The Parents Circle" on Monday, October 27, at 12:00 p.m. in the Student Union, Ballroom E.

Students are encouraged to come out and hear the stories of Israeli and Palestinian parents who have lost loved ones in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to learn how they are now working together to advocate negotiation and reconciliation and to bring peace to the Middle East. Monday's featured speaker will be Ghazi Brigit, who lost his brother in the Israeli Palestinian conflict.

The Hospitality Club will host a five-course meal with the theme "Fall Harvest" on Thursday, October 30, at 6:00 p.m. in the Crystal Room Restaurant at Gallucci Hall.

The event will begin with hors d'oeuvres of grilled apple and pumpkin skewers with caramel glaze and bruschetta with goat cheese, pesto and pine nuts. Dinner will include roasted corn and sweet potato chowder; a mesclun salad with walnuts, pears, Gorgonzola cheese and apple cider vinaigrette; ginger plum sorbet; beef tenderloin en croute (with a cranberry/orange compote); pan-seared sea scallops with white wine cream sauce; wild rice pilaf and roasted fall vegetables. Bourbon pecan creme brule will be served for dessert.

Coffee and tea will be available at no extra charge. There will be a cash bar for wine, beer and soda.

The cost for this event is $30 per person. All proceeds will benefit the Hospitality Club. Reservations are required. Please call (330) 972-6615 by 5:00 p.m. Monday, October 27, to make reservations.

The NEW "Halloween Hoops" will be held Thursday, October 30, at James A. Rhodes Arena. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. with activities and chances to win prizes from Adidas, Pepsi, Aeropostale and other Team Akron Corporate Patrons. Students are encouraged to come out and party with Zips Basketball this Halloween.

Student groups will also have the chance to pick their lower level seats in Rhodes Arena for the 2003-04 men's and women's home basketball games.

Dr. Thavolia Glymph, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of African and African-American Studies and History at Duke University, will deliver the 2003 George W. Knepper Lecture on Thursday, October 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Martin University Center. An acclaimed historian of the Civil War, Glymph will present "Liberty Dearly Bought: The Making of Civil War Memory in Afro-American Communities in the South." "Give Time For Others"

The Salvation Army of Summit County and the Student Employment Office invite all students, faculty and staff to join them for the “Give Time For Others” campaign Friday, November 14, through Wednesday, December 24.

The "Give Time For Others" campaign promotes community involvement in helping the less fortunate in Summit County. Individual volunteers, groups, sororities, fraternities, residence halls, clubs, musical groups, churches and organizations are encouraged to participate in this event for community service hours by volunteering to ring the bell at one of many kettle sites at various locations across the county.

The sponsors would like to make Friday, December 5, The University of Akron Day for volunteering. Individuals and student groups that are unable to make it for this date may volunteer for other days.

A Spaghetti Benefit Dinner, sponsored by Phi Gamma Delta and friends and family of Jason Pirock, will be held Saturday, November 1, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the New Waterford Eagles, 3614 Creek Rd., New Waterford, Ohio 44445. Jason is a student at The University of Akron involved in Phi Gamma Delta, University Program Board, Greek Programming Committee, Associated Student Government and Student Ambassadors.

The benefit dinner is being held in order to help cover Jason's excessive medical expenses at The Cleveland Clinic, which were accrued while recovering from lymphoma cancer.

Tickets are a $7 donation per person and can be purchased at the Student Union Information Center or at the Phi Gamma Delta House located at 261 Spicer St.

One of the highlights of visiting the Akron Civic Theatre (managed by The University of Akron) is hearing the stirring sound of the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ. Be there on Saturday, November 1 at 8:00 p.m. when Rob Richards--the featured organist for Walt Disney Company at Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre--and special guest Ralph Wolf fill the Civic with the magnificent sounds of the historic Mighty Wurlitzer.
