Reminder about due date for payments Jan. 9

The Office of Student Accounts/Bursar welcomes you back for the spring semester and offers these reminders:
  • Payment for spring-term enrollments made after Nov. 9 are due Wednesday, Jan. 9. For any new enrollment or change to enrollment after Jan. 9, the due date for payments will be the same day of the enrollment.

  • No paper bills were mailed or will be mailed to students who enrolled or made changes to their enrollment after Dec. 14. Students can view their account on ZipLine at https://zipline.uakron.edu.

  • Students should have their account balances paid in full or should sign up for the installment payment plan by the due date to avoid late fees or enrollment cancellation for nonpayment. If you have questions regarding your account, please call us at 330-972-5100.

UA Parents & Family Association to sponsor 'Welcome Back' Open House Jan. 13

Location: Student Union, third-floor lounge (above Starbucks)
Time: 1-5 p.m.

The UA Parents & Family Association is sponsoring a “Welcome Back Open House” for parents and families as our students prepare for a successful spring semester. The Association invites you and your family to stop by anytime between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to the third-floor lounge in the Student Union (just above Starbucks). We will have refreshments, information, and lots of holiday stories to share. You may park in any UA lot for free or in any metered space for a few coins.

As part of our open house, we have arranged for three speakers to discuss topics of interest to parents and family members. Each presentation will be about 30 minutes, after which, you are invited to linger to chat with the speaker. Feel free to attend one session or all:

2 p.m. in Student Union, Room 316 - Trends: Helping Your Student Make Effective Career Decisions with LuAnn Coldwell, Assistant Director, Center for Career Management.

You may wonder how you can help whenever your student contemplates a change in academic major or career direction. UA's Center for Career Management is a great resource. LuAnn will provide you with a brief overview of the Center resources as well as highlight current recruiting and career trends.

3 p.m. in Student Union, Room 316 - Financial Aid Update with David Marsteller, Assistant Director of Student Financial Aid.

David assists hundreds of families each year in accessing financial aid resources. Don’t miss his suggestions and ideas on federal aid and scholarships. If completing and filing the FAFSA form gives you a headache, drop by David’s presentation. His suggestions make the process simpler!

4 p.m. in Student Union, Room 316 - Recession-Proof Your Investments with Dr. Fred Carr, Director of the H.K. Barker Center for Economic Education.

If you are attempting to develop and protect your nest egg, this presentation is for you. Get free advice from an expert. Fred is an educator and an active investor. Worried about your 401k? Join us at this presentation.

Pick up your discount card at open house
Parents: if you would like a PFA member campus discount card, stop by the open house on Jan. 13 and pick one up. The card provides a 10 percent discount at many on-campus stores and eateries.

The University of Akron's Zipmail is a compilation of University announcements for University students, sent each Friday unless circumstances require otherwise. The deadline for submissions to be considered by the University is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
