The free Roo Express shuttle will serve resident students on weekends with an expanded route. Running from 10 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and Sunday, the shuttle will make stops at Quaker Square, Bierce Library, the Exchange Street Residence Hall and the Student Union. Here is the schedule:

  1. The shuttle will depart Quaker Square on the hour and arrive at Bierce Library.
  2. It will depart Bierce Library at 15 past the hour and travel to the Exchange Street Resident Hall (arriving in the lot behind or south of the building).
  3. It will depart the Exchange Street hall at 30 minutes past the hour and travel to the Student Union.
  4. It will depart the Student Union at 45 minutes after the hour and travel to Quaker Square.

Parking Services will monitor usage rates and talk with those who ride the shuttle to learn if an adjusted schedule would serve students better. If the schedule changes, an announcement will be sent via Zipmail, and a notice will be posted in the shuttle and on the shuttle page on the Parking Services Web site.

Any UA student or employee can pick up the shuttle at any stop. You must show your Zip Card to board.

The shuttle that serves the Polsky Building on weekdays will not run on weekends.

The College of Business Administration, together with the Cleveland Council on World Affairs, is hosting two specialists on innovation on January 24, 2008: Professor V. Wadhwa (Wertheim Fellow, Labor & Worklife Program, Harvard University) and Pete Engardio, Senior Editor from Business Week. They will be in town to collect material for their forthcoming book on various approaches to successful innovation. Senior executives from Northeast Ohio companies will meet on January 24 to engage in a roundtable discussion with them to provide examples of significant innovations from local area companies and, perhaps, present a favorable view of innovation that may showcase our region. We are very excited to welcome Professor Wadhwa and Mr. Engardio to The University of Akron.

We invite the UA and NE Ohio business community to attend the public report on January 24, 4:00-4:45 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom B at which time Professor Wadhwa and Mr. Engardio will report their preliminary findings from the roundtable discussions. The event is free and we encourage faculty, staff, and students to attend.

If you didn't make it to the concert of these two ensembles last December, you missed out. But if you are a guy who likes to sing and can make it to the Men's Choir rehearsal on January, 25th at 1 pm in Guzetta Hall Room 05, feel free to stop down and see what we're all about. The Men's Choir is a new organization that's ready to take off, as soon as you come and join us.

Also, following Men's Choir, the University's premier men's A Cappella group, Nuance will be holding auditions for new members. This group is pretty well established, but we lost a couple of guys last semester and need some more talent. If you feel up to it, be there for Men's Choir at 1, have a song prepared, and short joke.

Both ensembles are ready and willing to blow the lid off this semester, but we need some more guys....and if you can sing, it could be you.
