Important Reminders: 

Tax time is approaching!! Make sure that you receive your 1098T on time. Please verify that your home and mailing address is current and up to date. This will ensure that your 1098T tax information will be delivered to you in a timely manner. To update your address:

1. Log into My Akron
2. Go to Student Center
3. Under Personal Information select Addresses
4. Add a new address or edit an existing address

Don’t wait! Complete direct deposit enrollment TODAY!! The Office of Student Account offers e-refunding to provide our students with a secure, convenient way to receive their refunds.

How do I set up direct deposit? Log into My Akron and follow these simple steps:
1. Click on Student Center and select enroll in Direct Deposit from the drop down.
2. Enter the required banking information (checking or savings routing and account numbers).
3. Acknowledge terms and conditions regarding banking account information.
4. Select a bank account for direct deposit.
5. Agree to the terms and conditions for enrollment into direct deposit.
6. Submit information for enrollment into direct deposit.
7. Receive a message of Congratulations, for enrollment into direct deposit.

Direct Deposit may take 2-3 days after processing to reach your account. If your Direct Deposit is not complete you will receive a check mailed to your current mailing address on file if you are eligible for a refund.

SRWC and ONAT hours will change for winter break starting Friday, December 14, 2012 and continuing on through January 12, 2013. Spring Semester hours will start back on Sunday, January 13.

Hours are based on SRWS research of patron use. Please log into our website at for details of our holiday schedule or stop by the SRWC for a flyer. Also this year, the SRWC will be open for limited hours December 27 – December 30 to help encourage the continuation/development of healthy habits.

Black Male Summit will be April 12-13 
About 1,000 attendees from across the nation are expected for this year's Black Male Summit, to be held April 12-13 in the Student Union.

Speakers will discuss issues affecting Black males in higher education, including mentoring, retention/graduation, career development, college preparedness and the appeal of science and technology degree fields.

A gift to the community from The University of Akron School of Music and E.J. Thomas Hall, TubaChristmas combines hundreds of tubas – many festively adorned with tinsel, garlands and lights – and sing alongs in a beautiful setting.

Copy editor needed at The Buchtelite!Jan. 14 - Dec. 31

The Buchtelite is looking to hire a copy editor for the spring semester to be a part of the news poduction team on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Description: Copy editors are responsible for reading the stories to ensure consistency and correctness and to eliminate spelling, grammar, and local and Associated Press style errors. Copy editors correct the mistakes and present edited versions of the story to the section editors and page designers to correct.

More specifically, copy editors:Are present on production nights and edit copy in a timely fashion. Edit copy for grammatical, structural and style mistakes.

Copy editors also check all copy on pages prior to printing to assure corrections are made.

The Buchtelite is looking for motivated individuals to fulfill the role of an advertising representative for the newspaper.

Some of the responsibilites of the position include:
-Generate revenue for the Buchtelite by selling advertisements. More specifically, advertising representatives:
Solicit local businesses to buy advertising space in the Buchtelite.

-Make appointments with clients and promptly return their phone calls.

-Prepare a contract for each client, complete with signatures, billing address, advertisement size, cost and publication date(s).

-Submit to the Business Manager information on the production sheet with the contract.

-Check to assure that each advertisement sold is running according to the client’s specifications.

-Work at least 10 hours per week in the office making calls, serving walk-in customers and answering advertising questions.

-Keep a record of their accounts and the times when each advertisement is to run.

-Keep a record of their activities, submitting it to the Business Manager each week.

-Meet all production deadlines and sales quotas.
