Get classy, Akron: Get your fall classes before you leave!
The University of AkronSchedule your fall classes before you leave for summer and get the best classes at the best times — before they fill up! You'll also stay on schedule to graduate on time, and you'll have a better chance at avoiding long gaps in your day.

There's no reason to wait. Sign up today and pay in August.

Plus, you don't need to meet with your adviser before scheduling, though your adviser is available to assist. (Those with an advising hold should see an adviser now, when wait times are less.)

And remember, you can always change your schedule, so there's no benefit to waiting to see your spring grades or to waiting for your fall work schedule.

Department of Mathematics is hosting a Job Orientation Talk with Eugene Neduv, Ph.D.

Financial Network Analytics (FNA) is a software application founded by Kimmo Soramaki, PhD. FNA allows exploration and monitoring of large-scale dependence structures of nancial assets. It uses network theory for reducing market or portfolio complexity with intuitive and interactive data visualizations. This allows enhanced identi cation of price driving themes and market dynamics, and the discovery of market

For a portfolio of equities using FNA minimal trees construction based on Gower distance and Newman modularity we can obtain groups of highly correlated assets typically with a central node being an ETF that represents a particular industry sector. A portfolio of equities can be subsequently hedged using ETF for each cluster of stocks. Correlation dynamics changes with time and clusters evolve depending on the market conditions.

Biography: Eugene Neduv has graduated from Columbia University in 2002 with PhD degree in Mathematics. His doctoral thesis was a study of periodical solutions in Hamiltonian Systems using calculus of variations and symplectic geometry.

In 2005 after a few years of postdoctoral research in Brazil Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics and Germany Humbolt University Eugene has transitioned to nancial engineering in the role of Risk Management consultant at Imagine Software Trading system.
