A Message from the Executive Director
As we begin to wrap up 2023, I wanted to take a moment to reach out to all of you—our visitors, friends, collaborators, supporters, and donors—and say thank you for a wonderful 2023! It has been a full and rewarding year here at the Cummings Center for the History of Psychology. Our dedicated team has once again pooled so much time and talent to preserve, interpret, and share psychology’s history. Through continued care and preservation of the historical record, education and outreach, and public programming, our team’s focus and creativity have truly mobilized psychology and its history to create space for exploring our shared humanity. We couldn’t do all of this without your continued enthusiasm and support.
Whether you have donated a collection to the Archives, visited our new exhibits, conducted research in our reading room, taken part in one of curated tours, or explored our virtual content from the comfort of your home, we are glad that you were part of the Center’s work this past year. We hope you will continue to learn with us in 2024.
I am truly excited about the things we have in the works in 2024. In May, we will welcome Dr. Joseph E. Trimble as our speaker for the annual Dr. Ludy T. Benjamin, Jr. Distinguished Lecture in the History of Psychology. We will also be launching a new oral history project aimed at documenting the lives and careers of those who have made major contributions to psychology. Finally, I am most excited about the research that has already begun on our next big exhibit, Psychology Takes Flight, exploring the history of psychology in aviation.
So, stay in touch! We’ve got lots of great things in store for the next year. Each day, I am grateful to see what stories our visitors find and connect to in our collections, and I am constantly reminded of how psychology helps us better understand our world and each other.
To those of you who have supported our work, please accept my warmest thanks. If you are interested in becoming a Friend of the Center or learning more about how you can support our work, please reach out. I always enjoy hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Cathy Faye, Ph.D. (she, her, hers)
