Fall Into Dance with Choreographers' Workshop this October 23-25

We invite you to our upcoming performance of Choreographers’ Workshop, an annual event in which The University of Akron dance students have the opportunity to create and present original works, as well as run and produce a live dance performance.

Showcasing the talents of UA dancers in diverse performances, Choreographers' Workshop bridges the academic and professional dance field. One choreographer will be awarded a performance in UADC (University of Akron Dance Company) - Fall Concert, a faculty choreographed event.

Three student choreographers share their unique themes

UA dance students always bring themselves into the work they create. Their themes come from personal questions, dreams, and struggles:

  • Aviance Bain  “Being absolved of guilt; having monologues with yourself and whatever higher power you believe in.”
  • Christine Howe  “I'm playing around with the idea of trying to find your identity within a group."
  • Aaron Knowles  “…based on struggle and overcoming…”

Great Dance to do Great Things

UA students and faculty often ask themselves how they can benefit their local community. With Choreographers' Workshop bring two canned food items, which UA will donate to The Akron Food Bank, and receive $2 off of admission. Together we can truly do great in our community with great dance!
