The Literary Guild Excellence in Literary Criticism Prize

The Literary Guild Excellence in Literary Criticism Prize was instituted by the Literary Guild in 2006. The award recognizes student achievement in the area of critical analysis of literary texts. The winning paper exemplifies the productive application of a critical methodology to a literary work (or works) of any type or genre.

Prize:

  • TBD, but historically around $50.

Who can enter:

Competition for the award is open to any currently enrolled undergraduate University of Akron student.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Submitted papers should exemplify a critical-analytical approach to a literary work (or works) of any type or genre.
  • Please include your name, email address, and student ID number in the document.
  • The paper should be double-spaced in 12-point font, preferably Times New Roman.
  • The committee’s decision will be final.
  • Save the title of your document in “LAST NAME-Award Title” format (for example, SMITH-Literary Criticism Prize).
  • Upload your document in PDF form.
  • The submission link will become available in February 2025.
