Biography

Sean Eli McCormick is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at The University of Akron. He is also a Ph.D. student in the Department of Bioethics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and has served as an Instructor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Cleveland State University since Fall 2016. He is a member of University Hospital’s Cleveland Medical Center Ethics Committee (July 2014-present), University Hospital’s Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital Ethics Committee (October 2021-present), and UH CMC Patients Without Proxy (PWP) Subcommittee (March 2015-present). He additionally serves as a peer reviewer for Quality Matters, an organization which certifies online and blended courses for quality standards across the country.

Research Projects:

Mr. McCormick is currently working on the CWRU at Midtown Population and Community Health Initiative as a graduate research assistant and community engagement coordinator with faculty from across the university including the Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods and the Mary Ann Swetland Center for Environmental Health. His work currently entails organizing and analyzing data from listening sessions soliciting feedback from stakeholders in the community, identifying and engaging with peer institutions, identifying candidates for community experts-in-residence, and engaging with community business leaders.

Mr. McCormick is also working as a research associate with members of the Health Humanities Consortium’s Curriculum and Assessment Committee to engage health humanities educators around the nation in discussions about the content, skills, and values that are central to health humanities programs. In this role, Mr. McCormick has been working on focus group transcript verification and qualitative coding.
