The office of Computer Based Assessment & Evaluation provides services in the design, development and deployment of online tests, surveys and assessments. It is the mission of CBA&E to fulfill the online assessment needs of the University of Akron community by maintaining standardized procedures and services that support the University’s standards of academic responsibility while retaining sensitivity to the individual examinee. CBA&E provides services to faculty, students, and prospective students.
The Computer Based Assessment and Evaluation office provides computer-based testing for a variety of UA courses, from general education to advanced courses. Professors typically assign a multi-day window during which students can schedule a test based on current lab hours. We deliver tests by secure server in a monitored/proctored environment. Testing software generates the assessment according to the guidelines set up by the faculty and provides immediate score reporting and statistical analysis.
CBA&E offers test scoring, course evaluation, and surveys using Scantron technology. General data, statistical analysis and electronic transfer of data are available.
We offer placement testing for prospective students who are accepted and planning to attend the new student orientation session at the University of Akron. Academic advisors also authorize placement tests for existing students. Students may be required to complete one or more placement tests.
CBA&E also offers individual training to UA students, staff, and faculty who wish to administer web enabled surveys using CheckBox, an online survey tool. Checkbox users can administer surveys via the web, collect data, analyze data, and generate reports.
