Please read in textbook, pages 1-8; pages 32-44; pages 53-61 (stop after Note 4), p. 67, note 6; and pages 97-104. These first two sets of pages give the historical background to the origin of oil and gas and also discuss well drilling, including horizonal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. The remaining two sets of pages explore the critical concept of ownership and the law of capture of oil and gas as well as some limits on the law of capture.
