Career Services for Alumni
Career Services advisors offer virtual appointments to alumni to explore career paths and help you prepare for your part-time and full-time job search. All alumni are welcome to use Handshake, UA’s networking and job board, to schedule virtual appointments, search for opportunities, network with employers, and register for events that are open to alumni.
If you have access to your Handshake account, please update it with your personal email to maintain your access. If you do not have access to Handshake or have never had an account, please contact Career Services at 330-972-7747 or career@uakron.edu to gain access.
Meet with a Career Services advisor virtually to learn more about each of the following resources as well as other opportunities to explore career paths.
- The Focus2 free online assessment guides users through a reliable, intuitive career and education decision making model to help explore interests and occupations, select a major, and make informed career decisions.
- Login for first-time users: Create an account; access code is "zippy".

- See how UA majors and degrees align with top occupations in Ohio with the Connecting UA Majors to Top Jobs in Ohio Guide.
- The "What Can I Do With This Major?” Website features 100+ major profiles with information on common career paths, types of employers that hire in the field, and strategies to maximize opportunities.
Meet with a Career Services advisor virtually or attend a workshop or event that is open to alumni to learn about:
- Resumes, Cover Letters, Curricula Vitae (CV), and Application Materials.
- Interview preparation and mock interviews.
- Graduate school preparation.
- Developing soft skills and professionalism in the workplace.
