This endowed scholarship was established with a gift from Dr. Franklin Strain, a successful chemical researcher holding 147 patents. In recognition of Dr. Strain's concern for the recruitment and encouragement of outstanding graduate students in chemistry, the scholarship is awarded to an outstanding graduate chemistry student with a special interest in organic chemistry.
Recipients are determined by the Department of Chemistry.
University Scholarships
- New freshman academic scholarships are awarded based on GPA and standardized test scores provided during the admissions process. Learn more.

- Major-specific and Honors scholarships are awarded based on completion of specific requirements.
- Endowed scholarships are awarded to some students who have demonstrated history of leadership, community service or other personal factors.

- Non-Ohio residents may qualify for one of two out-of-state scholarship programs.
- Scholarships are also available from the Office of Accessibility, Military Services Center (for veterans) and ROTC.
- External scholarships are offered through Americorp and the Educational Training Voucher.
