CBA Alumna Recommends UA’s AVTC Program

Melissa Davis ’07 credits UA’s advanced vehicle technology competition (AVTC) team with teaching her skills that she has been able to use in her marketing career.

A marketing management major, Davis earned her bachelor’s degree, along with a minor in entrepreneurship, in 2007.

Dr. Douglas Hausknecht, associate professor of marketing, was the advisor who guided Davis to join the Challenge X team.

“Missy came to see me to discuss ideas for her Honors Project. I saw car stickers on her notebook and took a stab at what she might find interesting,” he says.

“It was a real world experience,” Davis notes. “A lot can be taught through a classroom setting, but actually performing the tasks enforces the things you learn. I was able to have a much broader experience that allowed me to have a jump on the rest straight out of school.”

Davis is currently an assistant commercial manager at Kauffman Tire.
