Accounting Association and Beta Alpha Psi had a great spring semester! They participated in a variety of events including working the basketball concessions for the Akron Men’s Basketball team. This event served as a fund raiser for the organizations and raised a total of $170.
Members also had the opportunity to volunteer at Rockynol Nursing Home for their Easter celebration. This involved assisting the residents and their families in an Easter egg hunt, eating brunch with them, as well as dressing up as the Easter Bunny!
The last event of the semester was Relay For Life held here at The University of Akron. The theme for the event was birthday party ideas, and our team chose a Mario Cart idea. Fundraisers included a bake sale in the CBA as well as an on-site fundraiser of a Wii Mario Cart race for $0.50 each. Many members participated in this event, and were able to raise a large amount of funds through member donations as well as accounting faculty donations. Support from the CBA faculty was really appreciated!
In addition to the member activities this semester, Beta Alpha Psi officers were able to attend the regional BAP conference in Chicago, IL. These events are always very beneficial as the officers are able to interact with other chapters throughout the region and bring ideas back to Akron to improve our chapter.
We would like to thank the Accounting Advisory Board for all of their support in these events that allow our officers to participate! Once again, our organizations had a great spring, and are looking forward to next year!
