Valmark Securities, Inc. Financial Planning Scholarship

The Department of Finance is pleased to announce the application period for the ValMark Securities, Inc. Financial Planning Scholarship. There will be one award of $3,000 to be used toward tuition and fees. This award is available to a Finance major with personal financial planning as their goal and intent to qualify for the CFP® mark. The scholarship may be awarded to a student only once.

This scholarship is made possible by the continued support from ValMark Securities, Inc. and its President, Lawrence J. Rybka, a University of Akron alumnus and CFP® mark holder.

Applicant Criteria

Applicants must be majoring in FINANCE with a declared intent to meet the education requirements to sit for the Certified Financial Planner® Certification Examination. Applications must include an official transcript, resume, and essay.

Sophomore Requirements

  • Cumulative GPA 3.25
  • Completed minimum 45 credit hours to date (not including current enrollment)

Junior Requirements

  • Cumulative GPA 3.25
  • Completed minimum 60 credit hours to date (not including current enrollment)

Scholarship application forms may be obtained from the Finance Department or downloaded. Completed applications and supporting documentation must be submitted in hard copy format.
