The Timken Company is a leading global manufacturer of highly engineered bearings, alloy steels, and related components and assemblies. Our technologies and products turn up virtually everywhere equipment moves or power is transmitted. By applying our knowledge of friction management and power transmission, we help our customers’ products run smoother, faster and more efficiently.
Timken offers international internships to exceptional students who want to gain practical experience while applying their classroom knowledge and skills.
This winter, The Timken Company is looking for students from The University of Akron to fill these internships. Students of the College of Business Administration are encouraged to apply. The Timken Company is coordinating with the CBA to find the best business students to fit the company’s needs.
These opportunities will be located in India and will provide students with an international experience. The aim of Global Internship Program is to give students from diverse cultural backgrounds an opportunity to understand Timken and bring in distinct perspectives.
Duration: Ranges from 4-5 weeks. Ideally the internship will begin directly following final exams in Fall 2011 semester and will end just prior to the beginning of the Spring 2012 semester.
Eligibility: Undergraduate students in their junior year and graduate students are eligible to apply for these internships. Students must demonstrate strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, and communication skills. The final decision is at the sole discretion of The Timken Company.
Potential projects: Students are assigned to projects based on the strategic, sourcing and business requirements of Timken as well as on the expertise and aspirations of students, as stated in their résumé.
Support: The Timken Company provides housing for the duration of the internship. Travel (to and from the US) and housing is student’s responsibility.
Things to consider: Winters can be cold in India, but do vary by location. You should be willing to spend the entire duration of the internship in India.
To apply: Submit a focused resume that details your analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills. In a separate page (not exceeding one page), you should clearly and succinctly describe your goals from this internship, expected benefits and proposed value you can add to Timken. Both your resume and goals should be part of one document. Please email your submissions to both Dr. Kim firstname.lastname@example.org and Dr. Chandra email@example.com.
Deadline: October 3, 2011.
