November is National Adoption Month throughout the USA. The Children's Services Board of Summit County kicked off the month with a staff assembly on November 1 citing the statistics on successful adoption placements through the year and the continuing need for adoptive families. The conversation was followed up with an on-air radio interview with CSB Executive Director John Saros on WAKR 1590 AM during the Ray Horner Show.
Associate Professor of Marketing and International Business Doug Hausknecht and his wife, Carol were part of both events. The Hausknechts started licensure training in 2006 and became licensed foster parents for CSB in 2007. This past year, they adopted two children who had become part of the family in the previous year. Champagne and Jordan attend high school and middle school, respectively. They are also joined by a cat and 3 dogs to keep the household lively.
