Throughout the school year, the Career Planning & Placement Office offers a wide variety of programs covering topics ranging from different practice areas, professional development, interview skills, obtaining a judicial clerkship, to non-traditional/alternative careers, resume and cover letter preparation, how to network and how to launch a successful job search campaign. Attendance at these programs can provide students with insight from practicing attorneys, expert advice on specific hot practice areas, and other "insider" information that is invaluable to the job search. Coming to our workshops also gives you the opportunity to build your network of contacts.
For notice and further details about these different programs, please check the calendar below, read the Career Connection every week, subscribe to the Career Planning & Placement blog and watch for posters/flyers around the Law School.
In order to increase interview/job opportunities for Akron Law students, the Career Planning & Placement Office advertises and/or participates in a number of regional and national job fairs each school year. Often, the Career Planning & Placement Office will pay the registration fees for students in order to give as many students as possible the opportunity to attend. For example, during the 2010-2011 school year, the Career Planning & Placement Office will give students the opportunity to participate in the career fairs listed below. Although this list is not all inclusive, it is representative of the types of fairs that our students attend. Details about specific job fairs and special application instructions are published in The Career Connection well in advance of each job fair's deadline. Be sure to also check the website of each fair to confirm dates and deadlines, as well as whether you meet the requirement to participate. If you have any questions about job fairs please contact the Career Planning & Placement Office at 330-972-5321.
