Georgia Peeples is a Professor of Music at the University of Akron, where she teaches courses in music history and music literature. Formerly a bassoonist, she served for 19 years at the principal bassoonist of the Akron Symphony and performed at conferences of the International Double Reed Society and in music festivals throughout the United States.
With degrees from the University of North Carolina (M.A.) and the University of Maryland (D.M.A.), Dr. Peeples has published articles in the The American Organist, The Journal of the International Double Reed Society, The Bulletin of the Society for American Music, Women of Note Quarterly, and the Journal of the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors. She has presented papers at conferences of the College Music Society, as well as pre-concert lectures for the Tuesday Musical Club and Akron Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Peeples currently serves as organist for the United Church of Christ Congregational in Medina
