Scott Johnston is currently Professor of Trumpet at The University of Akron. Prior to his arrival in Akron he was the Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Presently he performs as Principal Trumpet in both the Akron Symphony Orchestra and the Canton Symphony Orchestra. Previous orchestral memberships have included the Madison Symphony Orchestra (WI), and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra (OH). He has also performed in the Blossom Band and as an extra with the Cleveland Orchestra.
As a member of the Paragon Brass Quintet (in residence at The University of Akron) and as a soloist he has performed and taught master classes in China, in Europe and throughout the United States.
For twelve summers Mr. Johnston served at Principal Trumpet and Brass Coordinator for the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria. In 1993 he organized and hosted the International Trumpet Guild Conference (ITG) at The University of Akron. He has also hosted three International Trumpet Guild, Ohio Chapter meetings in Akron - most recently in March of 2005.
