Letter from Courtney Jacobs, PHC VP of Recruitment

Dear Future Panhellenic Women,

Welcome to the beginning of the best four years of your life. Your interest in Sorority Life here at the University of Akron will play a big role in your college experience. I am proud to share with you my passion and experience within the Panhellenic Council. You are about to start a journey that leads to unforgettable memories and an experience that will last a lifetime.
Quite often, it is difficult to recognize pivotal moments in life that profoundly change who we are. I can say, whole-heartedly, that this was the case when I received my bid. I joined a sorority to make friends, as is often the case. I was afraid of getting lost in the shuffle of this huge school and never quite finding my niche. I could not imagine how joining a sorority would not only help me to find the best friends a girl could ask for, but so much more. A sorority is more than just letters on a sweatshirt, it is an organization where you will find life-long friendships, the skills to succeed, a deeper appreciation for the world and community around you. We as a university are thrilled to announce that we are extending our Panhellenic Community to welcome a sixth chapter to our campus, Delta Zeta. Our six sororities were founded on similar values of academic excellence, leadership development, philanthropic and community involvement, and sisterhood that will last a lifetime.  Each chapter is unique and has something special to offer its members. Without one another, we could not be the award-winning Panhellenic community that we are today.

As the Panhellenic Vice President of Recruitment, I am proud to represent Sorority Life for my university and I encourage you to take the first step in adding a new chapter to your story. May this be your stepping stone into finding love in Greek letters. I look forward to showing you all The University of Akron’s Sorority life has to offer during sorority recruitment this fall semester! My advice to you as you make your way through the recruitment process remember to keep an open-mind, be yourself, and make friends with people different from yourself! Being a Panhellenic woman is about forming relationships with others to be a part of something greater than yourself. I cannot wait to introduce you to the amazing opportunities that being a Panhellenic woman has to offer! If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. Happy Recruitment!
