Amy Eibel is currently in her fifth year as adjunct faculty in the Art Education Department at the Myers School of Art. She also serves as a full time teacher in the Canton Local School District, teaching Visual Art to grades 5-8 at Faircrest Memorial Middle School.
In addition to her classroom work, Amy also assists with the coordination of the Art LIFT Program. Arts LIFT is a summer art program for high school students run by the Myers School of Art. Participants work with an artist-in-residence to create a piece of public art for the community.
Amy has presented at several professional conferences, including the 2013 Ohio Art Education Association (OAEA) and the 2014 National Art Education Association (NAEA) annual conventions. She is the Regional Director of the East Central Region of OAEA, and she also serves as the Adjudication Chair for the Northeast Central Ohio Scholastic Art Awards Committee.
Amy was recently featured in the May 2014 edition of About magazine as an “artist to watch”. About is a regional publication highlighting community business, organizations and events. Amy’s artwork was most recently exhibited in July 2013, at Translations Gallery in Canton, Ohio. Her current series in-progress, titled Town and Country, is inspired by her transition from city and suburban living, to a life in the country. Amy explores a variety of art media, but is currently focused on painting, drawing, mixed media and jewelry.
Amy obtained her BS in Journalism from Ohio University in 2002, and her MS in Secondary Education with Licensure in K-12 Visual Art Education from The University of Akron in 2006.
