Established in 1980 by family and friends, this endowed scholarship honors the memory of James F. Fitzgerald, Jr. of Canton, Ohio, a 1970 geology graduate who was killed during the eruption of the Mount St. Helens volcano. He was engaged in doing field work for his doctoral dissertation as a graduate student at The University of Idaho at the time of the tragedy. This endowed scholarship is awarded to an outstanding geology senior selected by the faculty of the Department of Geology.

University Scholarships

  3. Major-specific and Honors scholarships are awarded based on completion of specific requirements.

  4. Endowed scholarships are awarded to some students who have demonstrated history of leadership, community service or other personal factors. 
  5. Non-Ohio residents may qualify for one of two out-of-state scholarship programs.

  6. Scholarships are also available from the Office of Accessibility, Military Services Center (for veterans) and ROTC.

  7. External scholarships are offered through Americorp and the Educational Training Voucher.
