Graduate Faculty Appointment

There is only one graduate faculty of The University of Akron. Within that graduate faculty, members have different responsibilities.

• Category I:  All members of the graduate faculty
• Category II:  Those members of the graduate faculty who are granted the ability to direct doctoral dissertations and master's theses
• Ad Hoc:  Adjunct, part-time, visiting, and other graduate faculty members who may not direct doctoral dissertations or master’s theses or serve on a dissertation committee.

Departments within the College of Education have specific criteria by which faculty are granted Graduate Faculty Status.  See the following department criteria:
