10/22/2012

The Patricia Parr Memorial Fund has been established to support the individuals and families that utilize the services of the Clinic for Individual and Family Counseling through The University of Akron’s College of Education.  Parr, a faculty member in the Department of Counseling, passed away in September.

The clinic is a vital mental health agency for almost 1,000 clients each year. Its full menu of services includes counseling for depression, anxiety, resolution of grief, stress reduction, anger management, among many others. Counseling for couples and families is also available to address pre-marital issues, communication and relationship improvement, parenting skills and family development. These services are offered to clients of all ages and all walks of life.

Parr was a mentor to her students, tirelessly advocating for their success, seeing great possibilities, always willing to invest, encourage and support them. This fund will be a legacy for her great contributions to The University of Akron.
