Media Production Concentration

The Media Production concentration is designed to engage students in both fronts of a well-rounded fine arts education: intellectual inquiry and practical training. We have a rigorous digital video program enriched by study of the various aesthetic traditions found in the history of cinema and current video practices. Students enrolled in the production program are introduced to the principles of single camera production mode, particularly in the areas of narrative, documentary, and commercial work. The student develops professional skills in scriptwriting, visual composition, lighting, camera work, and post-production through practical exercises and individual projects. Throughout the program, students acquire additional practical experience through community projects, the School’s internship program, Z-TV, and WZIP. Media Production students find jobs in broadcasting, advertising, and the motion picture/video industry. They also obtain work in a large variety of industries that accept liberal arts BA degrees.
